YBM GangNam Center

This is Gangnam YBM Language School, the grand prize winner of the Public Design category at the 2012 IPD International Diplomatic Design Awards. To create a media façade on this pre-existing building, we focused on minimizing potential damage while enhancing the building’s aesthetics and visibility. The upper canopy lighting showcases the structure by utilizing up-lighting from Power LED Bars, which adds a three-dimensional effect to the top of the building. For the upper column lighting, landscape lighting was designed using the media façade on the sides that lacked existing lighting elements. We installed LED lighting fixtures arranged in a transparent net-like structure on virtual marble columns supported by steel wires, enhancing the overall aesthetics and recognition of the architecture. Given that the installation is outdoors, we customized the design to be waterproof. The installation covers an area of 500 square meters, and LED lighting fixtures with a pixel pitch of 125x125mm were used to create a media façade that is optimal for viewing from a distance.
